DL-1 Pirates |
I found one survey mark in Disneyland during my brief visit there in January, 2004. It's in the bricks between Rivers of America and the entrance queue for Pirates of the Caribbean. Link to waymark. |

DL-2 Main Street South |
Meg and Lloyd found a couple of survey monument covers. This one, from Meg, is at the south end of Main Street near the flagpole. The cover is about 10" in diameter. Link to waymark. |

DL-3 Main Street North |
Lloyd spotted this monument cover at the north end of Main Street, not far from the Walt and Mickey statue. Link to waymark. |

DL-4 Haunted Mansion |
Larry and Julie found this mark near the Haunted Mansion in 2003. As you can see, it was partly painted over even then. It was destroyed during subsequent repaving. |

DL-5 Matterhorn |
This one has also been destroyed. When Larry photographed it in 2003, it was near the southern end of what's now a smoking area. It was engraved JT 1761. |

DL-6 Submarine Lagoon |
This one was not far from the Matterhorn mark, near the old Submarine Ride lagoon. It had the notation JT 1760. It's another one that got paved over. Or possibly removed by Disney before the area was repaved. In any event, it's gone. |

DL-7 Tomorrowland Monorail |
In August, 2005, Larry was strolling near the entrance to the Tomorrowland monorail station when he discovered this mark. Since he's been looking for these things for quite some time now and never spotted this one, I suspect that it was installed during the recent Matterhorn refurbishment. (Notice also that it's the newer "Disneyland Resort" style that was first used when DCA was built.) Link to waymark. Update: When the submarine ride reopened at Disneyland in 2007, this benchmark ended up right where the new queue runs. Larry says it's about a lane into the queue, so it's often hidden under guests' feet. So it may be a little hard to find, but it's still there. The good news is that it's getting really well polished by everyone's shoes rubbing it! :-) |
DL-8 Autopia Smoking Area |
August, 2005 was lucky for other folks, too. Independently, Tony and Lloyd found this mark in the smoking area near the Autopia and the Matterhorn. Its location is between the now-defunct DL-5 and DL-6. Because it's the newer style marker also used at DCA, Lloyd speculates that it, like DL-7, was installed when this area was closed off for the Matterhorn refurbishment. Larry later took a few more photos of it. Link to waymark. |
DL-9 Southwest of Matterhorn |
Larry found this one by deduction! He was standing at DL-7 and realized that in order for a surveyor there to see DL-3 in the central plaza, there would have to be another mark southwest of the Matterhorn. So he patiently (more or less) waited for the evening parade to finish, then went to the designated location, and there it was! Excellent work, Sherlock! Er, I mean Larry.... Link to waymark. |
Update: In late 2010, Chris Gomez sent me some photos of this mark that displayed some new stamping. It seems that a land surveyor came by and added his license number to it. |

DL-10 Storybook Land |
Larry spotted this new one in September 2009. He had stopped briefly outside the Storybook Land Canal Boats when he glanced down and--voila! Link to waymark. Update: In early 2019, I was contacted by the surveyor who placed this mark. He told me that the intials belong to his child. What a great dad to create a memory for his kid in Disneyland! |
DL-11 Casey Jr. |
Lloyd and his family were visiting Disneyland in March, 2011 when he spotted this mark along the exit path for the Casey Jr. Circus Train. Just a couple of days later, Chris Heim submitted a waymark for it. So congrats to both of them for finding this one, and to Larry for some photos. Link to waymark. |
DL-12 King Arthur Carrousel |
Meg and Lloyd have been spending a lot of time around the kiddy rids at Disneyland along with benchmark-hunter-in-training Benjamin. In July 2011, Meg found this survey mark near King Arthur Carrousel. Link to waymark. Update: The same surveyor who contacted me about DL-10 told me that this mark bears the initials of the children of another surveyor. How fun! |
DL-13 Fantasy Faire Gifts |
Larry and Lloyd found this small survey mark during Lloyd and Meg's July 2011 trip. It's different from any we've seen at Disneyland before, but it has the stamping of a licensed surveyor so it's clearly a genuine survey mark. "TCG" is The Culver Group, a surveying company in Southern California. In the photo with Lloyd, you can get an idea of the mark's size; it's between the toes of his shoes. |
DL-14 It's a Small World |
I don't know how long this small TCG mark has been here, but Lloyd spotted it during his family's trip to Disneyland in June, 2012. |
DL-15 Le Petit Chalet |
Another small one found by Lloyd in June, 2012, this one near a Swiss-themed gift kiosk below the Matterhorn. |
DL-16 Alice |
Albert found another TCG survey nail in January 2013. It's between the Alice in Wonderland ride and the Matterhorn. |
