Oftentimes, a potential funder wants an applicant to start with a brief letter of inquiry (LOI). If that piece fits the funder’s priorities, they’ll then ask the nonprofit to submit a full grant proposal. The excerpt below is from an LOI that I wrote for The Health Trust’s AIDS Services program.
Because proper nutrition is essential to helping the body fight HIV or AIDS, the Nutrition Program is a crucial component of THT-AS. In fact, it is Santa Clara County’s only food program serving people with HIV/AIDS. Through this program, homebound THT-AS clients are eligible for a monthly home delivery of quality foods to support their overall health. All other clients have access to twice-monthly grocery pick-up at THT’s Food Basket facility, where they can “shop” for their preferred healthy foods.
