GORDON TOOTOOSIS MAKES MYSTERIOUS RETURN IN THIRD NORTH OF 60 MOVIE
Lynx River is the meeting place of the past and present in more ways than one as Dream Storm, an all-new North of 60 mystery begins production Monday, October 2 in Bragg Creek, Alberta. Albert Golo (Gordon Tootoosis) makes a mysterious visitation when Corporal Michelle Kenidi (Tina Keeper), her police partner James Harper (Peter Kelly Gaudreault), Teevee Tenia (Dakota House) and Peter Kenidi (Tom Jackson) attempt to make sense of a possible murder on the banks of Lynx River.
Dream Storm takes the audience on a wild and unpredictable ride into an investigation that blurs the boundaries of reality and dream. Michelle Kenidi and James Harper find themselves caught up in an investigation where seemingly unrelated events are leading them toward an impossible conclusion. The town starts to panic, fearing an otherworldly return of Lynx River's "prince of darkness," Albert Golo, when his house, burned down four years ago, mysteriously bursts into flames again. The panic spreads, affecting Teevee who is embroiled in tense negotiations with neighboring Swan Landing over a proposed gas pipeline. The back-stabbing and double-dealing reaches all the way to Yellowknife, finally drawing Peter Kenidi into the fray. Meanwhile, nurse Sarah Birkett (Tracey Cook) is faced with controlling the outbreak of a strange disease that is spreading quickly but only seems to affect the town's children.
"Dream Storm is about memory and loss of memory," says producer Tom Cox. "It's a complex and multi-layered story that we've waited a long time to tell." Written by Andrew Wreggitt (In the Blue Ground, Trial By Fire) and directed by North of 60 veteran director Stacey Curtis, Dream Storm will take viewers into new territory for the show, a mystery that will challenge the Lynx River communitys understanding of who they are as a Dene people.
"Stacey has been part of the North of 60 team since the first season. Having directed 11 episodes of the series, she brings a wonderful understanding of the material, the characters and the cast," says Cox's producing partner Doug MacLeod.
Dream Storm will feature the strong ensemble cast from the North of 60 series including Wilma Pelly as Elsie, Tim Webber as Harris, Jimmy Herman as Joe Gomba and Lubomir Mykytiuk as Gerry.
Dream Storm is an Alberta Filmworks Production in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and with the participation of the Canadian Television Fund: Equity Investment and License Fee Programs, the CFCN Production Fund and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Alliance Atlantis International will distribute the program. Dream Storm will air on CBC. The broadcast date is as yet undetermined.
